UrbanLinkz introduces three new bus services in the east

Starting Sunday, 11 May 2008, UrbanLinkz will operate three new routes in the eastern part of Singapore to better serve commuters. The move, which was made more possible following the opening of UrbanLinkz's new bus depot in Tampines early this month, will especially help create new essential links between the east and developing Sengkang/Punggol.

Introduction of new route 743 - Tampines to Changi Airport
Besides creating a direct bus link between Changi Airport and Simei estate, service 743 also links residents of Upper Changi Road North with the amenities in Simei/Tampines, as well as ease of transfer to other bus services there. It runs every 15 minutes or less.

Introduction of new route 744 - Punggol to Upper East Coast Road
A new much-needed direct link for residents of Punggol utilising amenities in the regional centre of Tampines, service 744 will operate daily at a frequency of 10 to 15 minutes. In addition, it also helps to provide a fast link to the Bedok town centre.

New full-day shortworking variant 740A - Sengkang to Tampines
Following requests by residents of Sengkang for a more direct link into the heart of the Tampines regional centre itself, a new shortworking variant of route 740, designated as 740A, will be introduced to ply between Sengkang and Tampines Interchanges.

Service 740A follows the route of service 740 from Sengkang Interchange to Tampines Avenue 5, after which it will divert to terminate at Tampines Interchange. This helps reduce walking distance and travel time for current passengers of route 740 who have to walk a distance from the Tampines train station to the bus stops along Tampines Avenue 5.
