UrbanLinkz - Buses

Buses have always been the focus of UrbanLinkz Corporation, right from its early beginnings. Our operations have expanded over the years as we strive to continually meet commuters' changing travel needs. This include the acquisition of Island Transit Bus Services and Singapore Bus Transit (both of which have been absorbed into UrbanLinkz Buses), as well as Harmony Bus Services, all of which greatly expanded our reach and market share covering mainly the northern and western areas of the island.

UrbanLinkz Buses

UrbanLinkz's roots can be traced back to the late-1990s with the launch of Opaque Transit. The small public bus service company with scattered operations throughout Singapore was later renamed Trans Transit before being taken over by larger rival CityTrans Corporation which renamed itself CityFizz Corporation. The takeover saw the group running public bus services through subisidiaries Trans Transit and CityTrans. Soon after, Trans Transit was yet again made an entirely separate firm led by a management buyout, and renamed UrbanLinkz.

Today, UrbanLinkz Buses prides itself in running a modern fleet of over 1,200 air-conditioned buses that conform to strict emission standards. It has expanded to become one of the country's largest public bus service provider with over 70 services ferrying more than one million passengers daily.

Further expansion was achieved with the purchase of Island Transit Bus Services in 2005 and in 2006, the firm acquired Singapore Bus Transit. Both companies have since been amalgamated into the operations of UrbanLinkz Buses and this has strengthened the company's position as a leading public bus service operator in Singapore.

Harmony Bus Services

Currently 51% owned by UrbanLinkz Corporation, Harmony Bus Services has been known by many as the friendly bus service provider of the northwest, with operations concentrated mainly in the towns of Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Batok. Its acquisition by UrbanLinkz in 2007 is strategic in strengthening our operations and position in this part of the country.

Great Rides Bus Services

The latest bus company to be fully acquired by the Group in June 2008, Great Rides is a small bus company operating a number of routes in the central region out of its depot in Ang Mo Kio. Its subsidiary, Illuminix Star Inc, which manufactures electronic frontal displays for buses, has since been dissolved.
