UrbanLinkz is a leading public transport service operator based in Singapore. Originally a public bus service operator, it has since diversified into the local taxi and ferry markets, as part of its ambitions to be the region's leading transport operator.
UrbanLinkz's roots can be traced back to the late-1990s with the launch of Opaque Transit. The small public bus service company with scattered operations throughout Singapore was later renamed Trans Transit before being taken over by larger rival CityTrans Corporation which renamed itself CityFizz Corporation. The takeover saw the group running public bus services through subisidiaries Trans Transit and CityTrans. Soon after, Trans Transit was yet again made an entirely separate firm led by a management buyout, and renamed UrbanLinkz.
UrbanLinkz is also one of the founders of the TransPacific Alliance of companies, whose aim is to serve our passengers in the best ways we can, through mutual cooperation and accomodation. By working closely with BusHopper Ltd, XYGinc and SGT Group Holdings, UrbanLinkz has been able to establish some firsts in the public transport scene here.
Among them are the establishment of UrbanHubs - shopping centres integrated into bus interchanges and depots - a concept which has proven to be highly successful in helping the company to gain non-fare revenue to offset higher fuel prices. Together with XYGinc and Harmony Bus Services, we also pioneered an integrated bus operating system which covers the three companies' bus operations through the establishment of subsidiary Nucleus Systems Pte Ltd.
UrbanLinkz aims to provide world-class public transport which delivers on safety, comfort, reliability, friendliness and affordability. Today, it has expanded its fleet to more than 1,000 buses, 500 taxis and 15 ferries serving every corner of the country on more than 70 bus and river routes as well as numerous scheduled ferry services to nearby offshore destinations. Further growth is expected in the coming years as the company takes part in more strategic acquisitions as well as improve its organic growth tremendously.
